Day 1: Kolkata to Sudarbans

Keep in mind that it is always a great option to start the day as early as possible when entering the mainland of Sundarban adventure.

  • A mesmerizing 3-hour-long journey will bring us to our first halt at Gadhkhali jetty ghat. The location from where we will board our adventurous Cruise.We suggest our wildlife tours visitors arrive a night before the original commencement date to ensure a more extended period to get hold of the place.

    Our tiger tours mentor & forest guide will get the advanced forest permits from the Sajnekhali forest office.

  • An exciting time to start the adventurous voyage in the woods.Table talks are a must during dinner. At the table, we strategize the plan for the coming 5 days.

    For our visitor’s convenience, we also arrange for a pick and drop from any location within Kolkata with a minimal charge, or our visitors have the option to reach Godkhali Ferry Ghat for the Wildlife Tours start point.

  • Spend the night on our beautiful “LA FIESTA” boat designed especially for a comfortable stay. This boat will be our abode for the coming 5 days.
  • Till the time we dive into the wilderness, our tour manager & tiger tours forest guide will get the forest permits from the Sajnekhali forest office. Feeling the vibes of the woods, we shall stay put until our boat is off the hook.
Day 2 : Now the search begins

After a short relaxing night for the visitor, on the day first day of the adventure, wildlife safari India team we will be heading towards the entry point.

  • In the first hour of the day, experiencing the beautiful early morning gazes into the Sundarban National Park. The alarm is set for 5 AM.We wake up with fresh vigor and excitement, have time to freshen up, have our beverages (tea/coffee) by 5:30 AM, and start our cruise right after sunrise.
  • Sundarban safari timings are set from sunrise to sunset; we have an extra advantage as we spent our night on the Houseboat.
  • Within a stipulated 30 minutes we will face the jungle – The entry junction.We walk in tandem with jungle timing when in the jungle do as the wild does.

Day 3: The journey continues...

    • 6-Cylinder Boat – Our cruise is a 6-cylinder boat with less vibration – making it a perfect match for a wildlife photographer to take that clear click. Our visitors can take their best shot without any engine noise and no shaking whatsoever.
    • No seepage issues because of the brilliant work done towards the construction of the cruise.
    • Our “LA FIESTA” comes with an added advantage called the smooth reversible gear, helping the cruise to move in all directions within spilled seconds. This always helped our photographer visitors take that quick shot whenever required.
    • The inbuilt Genset and Backup battery help our wildlife photographers take those uninterrupted photographs for days without running out of those batteries and posting the photos on time while keeping their laptops and phones charged all the time.
    • Our Cruise is divided into two decks – Upper and Lower – Lower Deck is solely prepared to keep in mind the need to rest after a hectic shoot day. Though in system of the dormitory, still separating from the other beds with the help of curtains on each side and a window on the other side, ensuring privacy while you are charging up for the next morning of the best safari in India.
    • Keeping in mind safety and security, our upper deck is protected with the complete construction of the railing on all sides.
    • Our Upper Deck also has a tent for up to 3 – 4 visitors simultaneously.

    How many tigers are there in Sundarban?

    In the 2014 national census, 76 tigers were traced in the zone. In 2018, the number of big cats was 88. The 2020-2021 Census conducted by the state forest department had found 96 tigers in the delta.

    Dakshin Ray (“King of the South”) is a revered deity in the Sundarbans in India and Bangladesh who rules over beasts and demons.

    He is regarded as the overall ruler of the Sundarbans. Through his ascetic power, he took the form of a tiger called Dakshin Rai.

    What type of forest is Sundarban?

    The Sundarbans mangrove forest, one of the largest such forests in the world (140,000 ha), lies on the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers on the Bay of Bengal.

    It is adjacent to the border of India’s Sundarbans World Heritage site inscribed in 1987.

    The site is intersected by a complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats, and small islands of salt-tolerant mangrove forests, and presents an excellent example of ongoing ecological processes.

    The area is known for its wide range of fauna, including 260 bird species, the Bengal tiger, and other threatened species such as the estuarine crocodile and the Indian python.
